Our Mission
Project Imago Dei is a pro-human initiative that seeks to address the questions that rapid advancements in Artificial Intelligence pose upon humanity.
As Christians, we look to the eternal truth of God’s word as our supreme guiding light, setting the conceptual boundaries within which any proper answer to these questions must be discerned. Hence, we operate with the awareness that humanity is made in God’s image, and therefore, we must be unwavering in our support for human flourishing.
We seek to empower those guided by faith with knowledge, wisdom, and responsibility.
Knowledge to know the capabilities of artificial intelligence as it continues to grow in power, influence, and social impact. We must understand both the promise and the peril AI presents: what it could do both for and against the cause of human flourishing. For the more clearly we see reality, the more likely we are to navigate it successfully.
Wisdom drawing upon Scripture, reason, tradition, and experience in order to discern when it is wise to use these technologies for the common good, and when the moral or spiritual risk of such usage may be too great to be acceptable.
Responsibility to choose not to be merely reactive to the shape of the future but should instead lead and shape the future for good. Our opportunity is not to watch God bring about the good apart from us, but to responsibly participate in His work to promote the values of God’s kingdom in this world. That is our charge as His image bearers.
The Shepherd’s Warning
The Shepherd’s Warning is our companion video series that equips American pastors and shepherds of all other types to answer questions that their flocks are asking now about the advancement of artificial intelligence. We combine our technical, political, and theological backgrounds to create something uniquely powerful: a workshop that presents the reality of AI’s capabilities in accessible language, speaks to its risks to human dignity, and yet points toward the good futures still possible and the responsibility that Christians have in shaping them for a common good. Our approach draws deeply on Pope Leo XIV’s encyclical Magnifica humanitas, seen clearly in the above episode’s parallel between Nehemiah’s rebuilding of Jerusalem and the work before us today.
Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand” – Ephesians 6:13
Why This Matters
Reckless AI development and deployment has already been linked to harm and death. From troubling cases of mass surveillance to massive breaches in cybersecurity to the loss of job opportunities (especially for creatives and many young professionals), AI has already caused real harm. On top of all this, many of the elites influencing or directly controlling AI development trajectories have adopted openly and explicitly anti-human positions and ideologies.
We believe there is great potential for AI to serve pro-human and redemptive ends, and our work speaks to both its known and upcoming value. However, power without wisdom is a double-ended blade: the same tech that could help develop miracles for the uncured diseases can equally help develop bioweapons of unparalleled destructive power. AI’s potential to threaten human flourishing is not theoretical. The disasters predicted by technical and social experts have already begun to materialize, and we cannot stand by idly. We believe that Christian church should have a real impact on the trajectory of the future and our work intends to move the faithful to effective action.
Education is a form of thought leadership, to aid other leaders not only to understand the situation but also the vistas of the possible and necessary political and technical actions that believers can take.

Theory of Change
Politics is downstream from culture, and culture is downstream from faith. Despite disruption from secular technologies, the power of faith to shape society continues to demonstrate itself. From causes as disparate as the fall of communism to the normalization of civil rights and the success of pro-life activists, Christian communities have indeed moved mountains and changed outcomes once thought impossible.
AI is the next such question. By working hand-in-hand with religious leaders, cultural influencers, and policy experts, Project Imago Dei seeks to bring the same tradition of faith in a way that will affirm human dignity and rise to the challenges of the AI age. Our theory of change is based on classical Christian political anthropology, updated for our modern times and modern challenges.
